Congratulations to this year’s Consumers and Consumption section award winners!

Best Student Paper Award goes to two co-winners:

Barbara Kiviat, 2017.  “The Art of Deciding with Data:  Evidence from How Employers Translate Credit Reports into Hiring Decisions.” Socio-Economic Review, 1-27

Helana Darwin, 2017.  “Omnivorous Masculinity:  Gender Capital and Cultural Legitimacy in Craft Beer Culture.”  Social Currents, 1-16

Best Publication Award (this year the committee assessed books) goes to:

Laura J. Miller for Building Nature’s Market: The Business and Politics of Natural Foods (2017, Chicago)

Honorable Mention goes to
Daniel Fridman, Freedom From Work: Embracing Financial Self-Help in the United States and Argentina  (2016, Stanford)

Congratulations to these authors, who will be honored at our Section Reception at ASA this year on Sunday Aug 12 from 7:30 – 8:30 pm (offsite at a very nearby bar Midtown114 S 12th Street).  Thanks to our award committee members for their very hard work and service to the section:
